Kyle Kauffman leads the ongoing development and implementation of science teacher professional learning courses, including strategic planning and development, supporting the Institute for Quality Science Teaching team, collaborating with universities, districts and teachers, partnering with program evaluators and researchers to align work with evidence-based practices and the Next Generation Science Standards, and disseminating core work to key internal and external stakeholders. Kyle joined the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago in 2016 and brings 20 years of experience in teaching physics, serving as science department chair and curriculum leader, local association president, as well as developing and delivering professional development focused on improving grading and assessment practices. Kyle served as a co-lead of the "Our Place in Space" course which provided teachers with NGSS inspired physical and space science lessons, materials and insight into best practices. Kyle also serves as co-lead of the "Foundations of NGSS Curriculum Alignment" course which helped teams of teachers unpack NGSS Evidence Statements, develop Unit Blueprints and Unit Storylines in order to increase the coherency of science instruction.
